Wildlife Crime: An Enforcement Guide

The illegal trade in wildlife and its products continues to flourish despite several laws. As mere laws do not bring down the incidents of heinous crime in society, specialised enforcement plays a crucial role in the conservation of species. This guide is meant to help enforcement personnel who are concerned with controlling poaching and trade in wildlife. To make this an easy exercise, the book is generously illustrated and written text has been kept to a minimum. The book contains introductory material that gives an overview of wildlife trade; there are sections on law enforcement as well as a list of useful addresses. As identification is the most difficult part of enforcement, this section is given in colour. The guide is essential reading for any one concerned with the protection of wild flora and fauna. The authors are both Honorary Wildlife Wardens of Delhi and have been involved for the last decade in wildlife conservation efforts particularly anti poaching and anti-smuggling.
